OT AUSTRALIA Qld Clinical Research Bursary

Introduction

OT AUSTRALIA Qld Clinical Research Bursary is offered, biennially, on a competitive basis, to occupational therapists who are current voting members of OT AUSTRALIA Qld. 

Purpose

The purpose of the bursary is:

  • to assist those already undertaking clinical research or projects in an area related to occupational therapy theory or practice
  • to support members wishing to commence clinical research or projects where assistance is less likely to be available from other sources
  • to increase the profile of research within OT AUSTRALIA Qld
  • to disseminate information regarding clinical research projects

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be current voting members of OT AUSTRALIA Qld, who have been continuous members of OT AUSTRALIA Qld for three (3) years.
  • Preference will be given to those without other scholarships or financial asistance
  • Applicants will be currently employed in a clinical setting and the research should be specific to, or an extension of, their clinical practice.
  • Projects will focus on clinical rather than academic research
  • Projects should be completed with a two-year period
  • Members of committees, working groups, regional and special interest groups are encouraged to apply and will not suffer any discrimination in the selection process because of their honorary participation in the business of the Association.
  • Current members of the OT AUSTRALIA Qld Board of Management are not eligible to apply.

Selection Process

  • One or several projects/research applications may be awarded, up to a total of $5000 (plus gst if applicable)
  • applications will be reviewed by a selection panel, consisting of two representatives from the OT AUSTRALIA Qld Board of Management and one representative from a school of occupational therapy in Queensland.

Bursary

  • Following the decision of the Board of Management, the OT AUSTRALIA Qld Clinical Research Bursary will be announced to the successful and unsuccessful applicants in writing
  • A date will be set by the Board of Management to officially present the bursary to the successful applicant.
  • Announcement of the bursary recipient will be made in the newsletter and on the website
  • The research summary submitted by the successful applicant may be published by OT AUSTRALIA Qld.
  • The bursary will be presented at an event later in the year (to be advised).
